CoolJunkie.com
CoolJunkie is a national nightlife publication with local event listings, event reviews, album reviews, fashion show coverage, photo galleries, and more. Before my assistance they were updating the web site by hand using ordinary HTML authoring tools, with no database.

I worked closely with CoolJunkie's own graphic designer to rebuild the site using a MySQL database as the site's core. Now contributing journalists and photographers all over the country use simple web forms to author and edit their content. Updating the nightlife event listings for Miami alone used to take a staffer one entire full day per week. Now one person coordinates event listings for Miami, New York, Chicago, Philly, and San Juan. The system works so well that CoolJunkie is also launching sites for Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vegas, Boston, Detroit, DC, Atlanta, and London.

I built fully custom functionality for the arcane aspects of CoolJunkie's business that never could have been handled by any off-the-shelf software. For example, the night club event listings on the web site can include an option for readers to sign up for a guest list for free or reduced entry to night clubs. I built a system that confirms guest list signups by email and stores the lists in a database. The system then automatically distributes the guest lists by email to various night clubs across the country each day as needed, along with summary reports for managers.

I eliminated the workflow bottlenecks to allow CoolJunkie to expand from a local web site to an international presence. What can I do for you?
